Dominic Tancredi has picked up his sticks nearly every day for the last twenty years. He's a busy working freelance drummer, teacher and businessman. His passion for music is unmistakable, and his excitement infectious.

Dominic has performed as a freelance drummer / percussionist with countless ensembles and (to date) has tracked drums and percussion on five albums. He has performed on the drum set in styles as diverse as rock, pop, blues, funk/soul, big band/jazz, Celtic-rock and pop-country. In 2004 he was honored to serve on the district finals judging panel for the Guitar Center National Drum Off competition.

Outside of his native Cleveland, OH, Dominic has performed in various cities in the US, Canada and the UK. Locally, he has performed live on several radio stations and local TV channels, and has performed in some of Cleveland's largest venues with bands sharing the stage with international acts Rod Stewart and the Barenaked Ladies.

Within the competition pipe band circle, Dominic has competed in nearly every solo level and band level, beginning with the 87th Cleveland Pipe Band at age 11, and continuing with the Windsor Police Pipe Band. Dominic has also performed as a guest with several bands including the Toronto Police Pipe Band. He has won numerous solo, drum section and ensemble awards throughout the US, Canada and the UK (including the US Open Championships, North American Championships and World Championships in Glasgow) in every amateur level (Gr. 5 - 1.)

Musically inclined since birth, Dominic's father surprised him with a drum kit at age 5. Practicing nearly every day throughout childhood, he was already actively performing during elementary school. During high school Dominic was a member of a DCI-influenced competition marching band, WGI indoor drumline, competition wind ensemble, several vocal ensembles, musical theater productions (both pit and stage) and learned four non-percussion instruments.

Dominic has studied with Michael Crawley (87th Cleveland, Windsor Police), Steve Bowman (Counting Crows, Third Eye Blind), Jim Payne (legendary funk drummer, author and producer), Mike Delia (Cleveland-area independent), Phil Pharace (Cleveland-area independent), Jim Kilpatrick (Shotts & Dykehead Caledonia Pipe Band), Carl Lenny (Shotts & Dykehead, Windsor Police) and Reid Maxwell (SFU) among others.

Over the last 10 years, Dominic has taught students from 5 to 65+ (and nearly every age in between) and at the college level. A Percussive Arts Society (PAS) clinician, he regularly conducts group workshops, band instruction, and clinics regionally as well as private lessons in his Cleveland-area studio.

Dominic is currently performing with several original groups, recording in the studio, and is also busy writing a series of percussion books. He also enjoys graphic/website design, traveling and spending time with his family.

President and Co-Founder of Woodshed Percussion Concepts, Inc., Dominic's products have been featured in Drum! and Modern Drummer magazines and are known around the world.
