About Chris Coleman
Chris Coleman is undoubtedly one of the hardest working drummers in R&B music. His technical prowess behind the kit is undeniable, but his work ethic and demeanor are an even greater asset. Chris has toured the world several times over with the likes of Chaka Khan and Rachelle Farrell. He currently holds the drum chair for 90s boy band New Kids on the Block, driving one of the tightest backing bands on the pop circuit. With strong gospel roots, he has toured relentlessly with such acts as Marvin Winans, Israel & New Breed, Edwin Hawkins, and Vanessa Bell Armstrong, and has performed on countless recordings in the genre.

2001 Winner of the National Guitar Center Drum-Off Competition, Chris Coleman owes his strong work ethic and stage experience largely to his commitment to gospel music. His journey began at the tender age of two, sitting on his uncle's knee as he played the drum set in the church. Growing up, he traveled the country, performing with his father and uncles in a gospel ensemble. After graduating with honors in 1999 from the prestigious Drummer's Collective, Chris was accepted in to the Manhattan School of Music, offered a scholarship to Berklee, and a personal invitation to study with Ed Soph at the University of North Texas. He declined all three offers, opting instead to return to his hometown to start a ministry. You can learn more about Chris' techique in his new video Playing With Precision and Power (Hudson Music).
